Last fall this VA buck was impressive; for 2020 he added several more inches and has not been one bit camera shy.
Virginia’s Parker Slaybaugh is on a mission. Slaybaugh, 31, and his brother have been working diligently to improve a plot of family land specifically for hunting, and by the looks of it, all their hard work has been paying off nicely. For sending in photos of an impressive long-tined VA 10-point first encountered last year, Slaybaugh is the Week 5 winner of our 2020 Big Buck HIT LIST contest. The weekly win scores Slaybaugh a Wildlife Research Center scent and scent-elimination prize package valued at more than $67, and also makes him eligible for our September drawing to win a Wildlife Research Center prize package valued at more than $180. Enter today! “These photos are from land located in southeastern Virginia; we have history with this 10 pointer—we captured him on camera last year and last fall my brother had him about 100 yards away while bowhunting,” Slaybaugh wrote. “As you can imagine we’re very thankful that he’s back this year; he’s been on the property most every night for several months. “This is a small plot of land my dad bought several years ago, for my brother and I to turn into a hunting paradise. We’ve cleared areas to build food plots, and we keep them maintained year-around. “These food plots are at the back of two bean fields, and a great spot for the deer to graze and feed on their way to the bean fields. Harvesting deer on this land is more special to us, due to all the blood, sweat and tears we have spent working to make this land truly ours.”
