A jaw-dropping buck. Three years of game camera images. Not one of them in daylight. Will this be the year? Only time will tell with our most recent HIT LIST winner.
Over the past few years Georgia’s Keith Blanton, 46, has been experiencing one of the crueler aspects of running a few game cams. When you have eyes in the field 24 hours a day you can sometimes encounter bucks that, for whatever reasons, prefer to travel only at night. And of course, those daylight-shy deer, like the ultra-wide monster featured here, are typically among the largest photographed all year. But Blanton’s luck isn’t all bad; for capturing images of this Georgia giant between July 15 and July 24, Blanton is the Week Six winner of the HuntStand Big Buck HIT LIST contest that makes him eligible for a sweet new hunting optic from Burris. And of course, a new hunting season is right around the corner.
“This deer is bedding close by this location in a wet marshy bottom; my stand is placed not far from the bedding area and is hunted only when my HuntStand app shows the correct wind. It’s interesting to note that this is the third year I’ve captured this deer on camera and it is a regular, but it doesn’t seem willing to travel in daylight. I’ve not been able to capture any daylight photos of this deer at any time of the year.”

Be sure to include the date and state the images were taken, and a few sentences detailing the type of terrain/area where the image(s) were captured (i.e. funnel leading to soybean field, favorite stand site near creekbed, etc.) and some info on the buck(s) pictured. Do you have any history with the buck? Is the buck a likely newcomer to your area? Is it somehow unusual or unique for the area? What weapons/seasons will you use to hunt the pictured buck(s)?
