A favorite stand site on an isolated food plot. A promising buck working a fake scrape. When they come together in late June, our Week One HIT LIST winner is crowned. Enter Today!

Has a known buck returned to his old stomping grounds from last fall? That’s a question rolling around the mind of Minnesota’s Mike Vogel, 63, a dedicated bowhunter who, by the looks of it, can’t hardly wait for his state’s archery opener. For sending in a photo of what could very well turn out to be his target buck this fall (and a couple glimpses of what he might have looked like last fall), Vogel is the Week One winner of our 2021 Big Buck HIT LIST contest. The weekly win scores Vogel a Wildlife Research Center scent and scent-elimination prize package valued at $62, and also makes him eligible for our drawing to win a Wildlife Research Center prize package valued at more than $180. “The photo of the buck pictured above was captured on June 21, 2021, in Chisago County, MN,” Vogel wrote. “The site is a 1.5-acre clover field, and the buck is at a fake scrape that is 25 yards from my Redneck blind.”

“I’m exclusively a bowhunter, and am looking forward to MN’s September 18th archery opener,” Vogel continued. “I’m not sure yet which buck this is; I’m hoping it’s a tall-tined 10-point that was hanging around last season.”WeekOne2B 900“The photos above (taken late November, 2020) and below (taken Jan. 3, 2021) are of the 10-point in question; I passed this buck up last year at 25 yards, hoping he would put on more size this year. WeekOne3 900Both images of the tall 10-point (he’s at left in the image above, with a buck we call “Stickers”) were captured after the MN gun season, so I’m hopeful this buck is still around.WeekOne5 900“Here’s another shot of “Stickers;” this one was taken Dec. 17, 2020, and so he should also be around this year, but I have no definitive photos of him yet this summer.”
