After many weeks and many fine HuntStand success stories, we’re happy to report that Tennessee’s James “Buddy” Rose is the Grand Prize winner of the 2018 Big Buck ALERT contest. Rose, 47, a row crop farmer hailing from Pulaski, claimed our Grand Prize after logging a Week 9 win in our contest, entering a 170-inch-class Illinois whitetail taken on his 180-acre lease, a buck Rose had known about since 2014. Rose was selected our Grand Prize winner following a drawing of all weekly winners.“This is great, and it just proves using HuntStand pays off in more ways than one,” Rose said when contacted this week. “I’ve used HuntStand for several years now and it’s been an incredible help in my hunting, but I never thought in a million years I would be a winner.”

“I started using the HuntStand app about five years ago, I was needing something to predict winds; I tried it out and I love it. Today, you would not believe how many stands I have logged in my app.
“Every deer I’ve killed in Illinois I killed with help from HuntStand,” Rose continued, explaining that he took a beautiful trophy buck there back in 2016 (image above), then followed that up with what he calls a “cull” 8-point in 2017 (a fine trophy in its own right, image below), leading up to his stunning 2018 buck that he had been hunting for several years.
“My Illinois lease is not very big, it’s 180 acres, and you can push the deer out pretty easy if you’re not careful. You need to hunt smart and HuntStand helps us do that like nothing else. I will be a HuntStand user for life.”

As the Grand Prize winner, Rose was able to choose between two great gear prizes: a Leupold BX-2 Tioga HD 8X42 binocular (shown above, a $389.99 value) OR a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9×40 CDS riflescope (see below), a $389.99 value. For the record, Rose chose the BX-2 Tioga 8×42 binocular.
