When it comes to effective whitetailing, a man with a solid plan can be deadly indeed. Especially, of course, if the hunter in question is tapping into the power of the HuntStand app. Kentucky’s Dale Sellers knows that feeling well, riding it all the way to a beautiful velvet-covered 10-point Bluegrass State buck, arrowed the first week of September. For closing the deal on his well-laid plan, Sellers is the Week One winner of the HuntStand Big Buck ALERT contest.
“I was hunting a bean field, which four different bucks were using almost every evening,” Sellers said. “I used the HuntStand Hunting app to get the wind direction so I would not get busted by the deer hiking in to my stand, and during the hunt. I had photos of this particular buck on my trail camera a week before the season opened.
“On September 3rd, my first time out for an evening hunt, the wind was right and I set up along the edge of the bean field. An hour and a half later four bucks walked into the field, and 20 minutes later I shot this 10-pointer at 22 yards with my bow. He ran 70 yards and that was it. During this hunt the wind was light out of the south-southwest, and the temperature was around 75 degrees. HuntStand Hunting is a GREAT app, I love it! Thanks HuntStand!”
