Serious shed hunters take note: Your best days may still be ahead of you. That might be the takeaway after Team HuntStand received this image, taken Sunday (Feb. 12) afternoon in the Minneapolis suburbs, by an avid HuntStand user.
It turns out our friend Lane was taking the afternoon to mount his new scope, a Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x40mm CDS, purchased earlier that day from the local Cabela’s store in Rogers, Minnesota. Lane, understandably excited about the purchase, was mounting the scope to his trusty Tikka T3 (in 7mm Rem. Mag), when suddenly a bachelor group of four bucks appeared in the yard.
Lane reports that all four of the bucks at first appeared to be packing both antlers; closer inspection (courtesy of his new Leupold, of course) found one of the smaller bucks (see above) was missing the left side of its rack.
As you might imagine, Lane is ready to kick his local shed hunting into high gear, but regardless of the outcome, it seems Lane’s new scope purchase is carrying some serious mojo. We’ll have him stay in touch and report whether his new Leupold continues to help him spot big whitetails come the fall…
