Week5 One 900One of the magical aspects of running trail cameras in your chosen hunt area is that you get to see year-over-year growth and development of local bucks, and Ontario’s Tim Klyn, 18, knows that feeling well. For sending in a series of trail cam photos that include what Klyn believes to be a whopper mature buck he’s been watching grow for the past four years, Klyn is the Week 5 winner of our 2021 Big Buck HIT LIST contest. The weekly win scores Klyn a Wildlife Research Center scent and scent-elimination prize package valued at $67, and also makes him eligible for our drawing to win a Wildlife Research Center prize package valued at more than $180. Enter Today! Week5 Two 900“This is a 5-year-old buck that I have watched grow from a two-year-old 8-point, to now,” Klyn wrote. “I have his matched set of sheds from when he was 3, as a 10 point. At age 4 he was a clean 150-class 10 point, and I found his right-side shed. Now he appears to be a 7-by-5 giant. I am hoping to meet up with my mature quarry with my Excalibur crossbow, come October.” Week5 Three 900“These images were taken on the second of August. Unfortunately, the a.m. and p.m. are mixed up, so the photos were actually taken in the morning. These deer are visiting a mineral lick that I have established at that location. Week5 Four 900“This area is in a strip of immature timber, with under-growing goldenrod, along a river. My food plot is 100 yards to the south, in a clearing. It is a sort of travel corridor between bedding areas, and trails branch off this area toward nearby ag fields. Week5 Five 900“The interesting thing is, I am quite sure that the younger deer pictured with the larger buck (and alone in one photo) is his son. Comparing both deer’s photos side to side as two-year-olds, the antler characteristics are extremely similar. Hopefully, he follows his dad’s antler growth in the future.”
