A new age of muzzleloader hunting is dawning, and Traditions, Federal and Hodgdon are at the forefront.
For muzzleloader hunters everywhere, the future has arrived. Traditions has announced the introduction of the ground-breaking NitroFire muzzleloader at the 2020 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, NV. They’ve partnered with Federal Premium and Hodgdon Powder to make muzzleloading safer, more reliable, and more consistent, and the result can’t be overstated: Muzzleloading will never be the same.
Of course the details of this amazing three-company partnership are even more impressive, so let’s start with the new NitroFire rifle shown above ($549-$649):
The NitroFire muzzleloader is .50 caliber and has a 26-inch ultralight chromoly steel fluted and tapered barrel, 1:28-inch twist rifling, Dual Safety System, and much more. The NitroFire is also equipped with Traditions new Elite XT trigger system that’s designed with a rebounding hammer, a captive half cock, and a manual cross block trigger safety. The Elite XT trigger allows the action to be broken open with the cross bolt safety engaged, which allows you to load or unload your muzzleloader and view the chamber.
The NitroFire is the only muzzleloader on the market that uses the new FireStick from Federal Premium. The equally ground-breaking FireStick is available from Federal Premium and is an encapsulated polymer powder charge filled with clean-burning Hodgdon Triple Eight powder. Simply load your bullet from the muzzle then insert the FireStick into the breech of the Traditions NitroFire rifle. The FireStick is totally impervious to moisture and the elements, and has the same tight tolerances and quality controls as loaded ammunition. The FireStick allows for fast, safe, and effortless loading and unloading.
Speaking of loading the new muzzleloader, well, it’s as easy as 1-2-3:
- Start by loading your saboted projectile, such as a Smackdown Carnivore bullet, through the muzzle with your ramrod. Push it down the barrel and seat it on the shelf within the barrel. You’ll feel the bullet stop with resistance. This provides a consistent starting point every time.
- Break open the action on the NitroFire with the release button located near the trigger guard, and insert the Federal Premium FireStick into the breech area.
- Place a 209 primer into the primer pocket of the Federal Premium FireStick. Close up the NitroFire and your muzzleloader is fully loaded.
At product launch, two pre-loaded FireStick charge levels are available: 100-grains or 120-grains Hodgdon Triple 8. Users can expect projectile velocities equal to or better than what they are getting with equivalent loads from other types of in-line muzzleloaders. Learn more about Hodgdon’s new Triple 8 muzzleloader powder by visiting www.hodgdon.com. In the future, additional powder charge levels or charges using different powders could be offered. These options give shooters the ability to achieve other desired velocity options. FireSticks are sold in 10-count packs and carry an MSRP of $26.95 per pack.
