How Many Does Should You Shoot? [Deer Dirt]

by HuntStand

MORE FROM HuntStand

How many does should you shoot? That’s the question many deer hunters and land managers ask. Here is the answer, courtesy of Bill Winke.

In this episode of Deer Dirt, Winke discusses the importance of harvesting does on your hunting property. Making that decision isn’t always easy or clear, though.

In short:

  • Low Deer Densities: Shoot no does.
  • Moderate Deer Densities: Harvest a few does.
  • High Deer Densities: Shoot more does.

Check out the video above, and apply Winke’s advice on this most important matter. He uses several personal examples to illustrate this element of whitetail management.
