Getting the best trail cam photos isn’t difficult, but it requires effort. It also requires some skill, know-how, and benefitting from the right gear. There are numerous factors to keep in mind, including:
- Using a trail camera bracket or ground steak trail camera mount.
- Positioning the camera correctly. Usually, waist- to chest-high is best for most situations.
- Pointing the camera wisely. Due to the rising and setting sun in the East and West, cameras should point due North or due South.
- Placing something in front of the camera to get deer to stop. Regulations permitting, options include mock scrapes, deer feeders, water holes, and more.
- Removing all grass, limbs, and other debris around the camera. This improves photos and minimizes false triggers.
